Rock on. Be it known as a submitting author I expect rejection. It is not a curse, it is a rite of passage. I save all my best rejections.

That's a positive attitude, but it would also be nice if rejection feedback served some more useful purpose than a masochistic badge of honour! :)

I like hearing whether it would have been accepted at another time and you invite me to resubmit it or another. That two of you couldn't put it down, but it wasn't unanimous. That the subject matter or theme wasn't right for you.

Thank you, Mark. That's interesting. I think it would be difficult to say whether a submission would have been accepted at another time, because competition will always be fierce, but we might be able to say how close it came to being accepted.

Resubmission is something we'd certainly consider, but this would be for a very specific class of books which had potential, but where the work required to make them publishable was beyond the scope of our editorial team. You are always welcome to submit new/other works.

We could certainly say whether decisions were unanimous, although I hope there will be consensus with those we disagree on after discussion.

Subject matter and theme will certainly form part of feedback, as I think these will be some of the key reasons why books get rejected.

Would it be useful to know how far we got in reading your book, if we didn't reach the end?
